Twitter has announced it is rolling out a new 280 character limit for users around the world.
The website launched a test phase back in September for a small percentage of users.
The company says during the test many people tweeted the full 280 limit because it was new and novel, but soon people went back to a self-imposed 140 limit.
We're expanding the character limit! We want it to be easier and faster for everyone to express themselves.
More characters. More expression. More of what's happening.https://t.co/wBpYdy1K40

Tech Expert Jess Kelly says the move is a big change for the platform:
The response from Twitter users was mostly negative.

Many users said the feature they really want is an edit button for tweets.
