A man has died after explosion in the Swedish capital outside an underground station.

Police in Stockholm say he was seriously injured after picking up an object from the ground which exploded.

Local media say two people were taken to hospital.

The metro station and the nearby square have been closed to the public while explosives technicians are called.

Police patrols have been stepped up in the area.
