Talks to resolve the Bus Eireann dispute are expected to result in a proposal being put to workers this evening.

A ballot could see buses back on the roads tomorrow.

Discussions are still underway as the 18th day of strike action continues.

Today marks the 6th day of talks between unions and management at the WRC and parties realise time is running out and they need to bring a proposal to the workers.

Balloting workers on the proposal could see services operate across the country tomorrow.

The NBRU says its members remain resilient and won't accept a deal if it doesn't safeguard the future of the majority.

Unions reiterated that management have to be prepared to bear some of the burden of cost saving measures.

Acting Chief Executive of Bus Eireann Ray Hernan, declined to comment on his way into talks this morning:

The NBRU says, as it stands, the proposals would result in a cultural change at the company, which it says took 6 or 7 years at Irish rail.

Unions say while they're committed to making the company more efficient - an improvement in its financial situation won't happen overnight.

The NBRU's Dermot O'Leary has once again calling on the other transport stakeholders get involved to ensure the company survives.

A document leaked over the weekend suggested around 120 job losses are expected and SIPTU'S Willie Noone says it's unfortunate but they have to balance this with maintaining decent jobs.

Talks are expected to continue into the evening.
