A new group is aiming to boost the uptake of the HPV vaccine from its current low of 50 per cent.
Over 400 people will be diagnosed with a cancer caused by HPV this year - 300 of these will be cervical cancer.
The group of 30 organisations is being set up ahead of the new school year to give people the real facts about the vaccine.
It's after health experts estimated the low uptake last year will result in at least 40 deaths.
New figures from the Irish medical journal also show that girls in disadvantaged areas are least likely to get the vaccine, one of the key areas the campaign will focus on will be bringing facts to marginalised areas.
30-thousand girls will be offered the vaccine this term - there'll also be another chance for those who decided not to get it last year.
Parents are being urged to get their facts from the Irish Cancer Society and the HSE, not through social media.
They're being encouraged to ensure that their girls get the free life-saving vaccine.
