Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin have met in Helsinki, and the issue of alleged Russian interference in the US election came up at their joint press conference.
Trump avoided putting his faith in the findings of American intelligence agencies, stating emphatically that "there was no collusion at all" and that the probe has had a negative impact on the relationship of "the two largest nuclear powers in the world."
Former CIA Director John O. Brennan was not impressed by Trump's performance and suggested in a tweet that the President is "wholly in the pocket of Putin":
Donald Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of “high crimes & misdemeanors.” It was nothing short of treasonous. Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???
