This really is the ocean's epitome of a needle in a haystack. 

The Spanish galleon San José had been missing for over three centuries before it was located by the Colombian navy back in 2015. Due to legalities, the sunken ship has only started to be explored this week.

It's the stuff of dreams for all involved in the exploration as who would have ever imagined finding such a historic and valuable cargo?

I remember watching The Goonies on repeat as a young fella and wondering what it would be like if something like that ever happened?

One lady who doesn't have to imagine this type of adventure is Charise McKeon from Geological Survey Ireland. Charise is a geologist who knows all about these type of missions. 

The real-life treasure hunter chatted about this incredible find on today's Dermot and Dave, where she also informed us of the conflict it is causing between the US and Colombia over the 'rightful owners'. It's never straightforward - especially with €14bn on the line.

Charise got our listeners fairly excited too as she mentioned the potential goldmines around our own coastline.
