If there's one thing I know lads it's that Deirdre O'Kane is always good for a pick-me-up.

The comedian, actor and TV presenter is flat to the boards at the minute with her hilarious stand-up show A Line Of O'Kane. And it's so popular, she's had to add more dates to keep up with demand. Not a bad complaint to have. 

Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, O'Kane chats about how she's always torn between her professions, "when I finish a tour I want to do an acting job, and when I finish an acting job I want to do more comedy". It's always the way sure. 

When asked about how she got into stand-up in the first place, she tells her "road to Damascus" story, when she was given an 'All Access' pass to the Kilkenny Cat Laughs festival many moons ago. 

Deirdre's also been a key figure in bringing the 'Paddy's Night in support of Comic Relief' fundraising bonanza to the 3Arena over the past two years. She really hopes to see it back in 2019 and is trying to get the wheels in motion as I type. 

She had this to say about the event, "filling an arena that size with the best comics in the country - there's something very special about it". And with it raising €250,000 (approx) each night, who doesn't want to see it return?

Dancing With The Stars was always going to waltz its way into the conversation, and rightly so, she was class on it! She jokes about still being a touch bitter over being voted off, but admits to not having done a tap of dance since. And with her having to write material for her new show, she summed up the lifestyle contrast by saying this, "I went from being incredibly physical to being the most sedentary person in Ireland for a month".
