It's one of the highest grossing movies of all time, and has now been made into a musical which is sure to sweep you off your feet. 

The Oscar-winning An Officer and a Gentleman tells the story of a renegade Navy officer called Zack Mayo (Richard Gere) who gets a bit of a hard time from drill Sergeant Foley. He fully deserves it due to his swagger, but it's his falling in love with factory worker Paula Pokrifki (Debra Winger) that changes his life.

He learns some tough lessons and discovers what he truly wants in the world. 

The musical adaption of the story makes it's Irish debut in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre this May, and to find out all about it, we welcomed writer Douglas Day Stewart into studio.

Douglas wrote both the film, and the musical, so it's guaranteed to hold true to the original.

The musical includes some incredible 80's classics such as 'Up Where We Belong', 'The Final Countdown' and 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun'.
