A bridge from Ireland to Scotland could be on the cards by 2025.
The idea involves a road and rail bridge which would connect the two countries at a cost of around €17 billion.
Speaking to Dermot & Dave professor Alan Dunlop, one of the UK’s leading architects, said, 'it would boost both economies and help the post-Brexit border issue.
'It's absolutely physically possible to build a bridge between the two countries.
Professor Dunlop says a floating bridge, similar to the structures built between fjords in Norway, would work.
'It could go from Portpatrick to Bangor or Larne or follow a shorter route, from around Campbeltown, the Mull of Kintyre across to the Antrim coast.'
The phrase 'Celtic Powerhouse' has been used to describe the potential project, where tourists could experience Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland in one scenic drive.
