This is a tough time for lots of people for a number of different reasons.

One major issue for households around the country is financial strain, whether that's due to lay offs or pay cuts.

Martina Hennessy from doddle.ie joined Dermot & Dave to run through how people can best manage their finances during this stressful and tricky time.

One tip Martina recommends is to look into reclaiming some tax.

Taxback.com estimates the average PAYE tax refund is a massive €1,076 (overpayment PAYE/USC, medical and dental expenses, splitting tax credits, college fees etc), so the advice is to check to see if you are entitled to a tax refund.

If you're now working remotely you can claim E-worker tax relief, which is s a tax relief on expenses which people may incur while working from home.

You can claim tax back on a portion of a number of household expenses (such as heat, electricity and broadband).

Typically utilities are used for both personal and work use, so the refund will be based on the portion of your overall expenses which relate to your time working from home. Calculate your total costs and the amount of your time (as a percentage) you spent working from home.

You can then claim tax relief on this percentage of cost.
