Des Bishop is back in town for a couple of gigs over the weekend and it's great to see him about the place.
I mean, how can ya not love this guy?
The Irish New Yorker has been a friendly voice and brought loads of craic to our screens over the years. He also has a real knack for creating intriguing documentaries.
Whether it was learning a cúpla focal on In The Name of the Fada, taking a sobering look at alcoholism in Under the Influence, living off the minimum wage in Des Bishop's Work Experience, or highlighting the good in underprivileged areas during Joy in the Hood, Bishop knows what makes us Irish tick.
Chatting on Dermot and Dave, the comedian tells us what his ultimate goal is right now, "I would like to get back into what I love doing, which is making experience documentaries". And that was very refreshing to hear.
Stand up will always be a part of him and that's why he has moved back to New York - in order to graft and challenge himself until the right project comes along to get the cameras rolling again.
He's "on the hustle" as he puts it himself, and is still "one of the A Team" when it comes to performing at the Comedy Cellar in Manhattan.
Des also gave us a great laugh about why "Halloween in Rialto is like the purge" and why the Americans love his Chinese material.
We're not sure what we love more, @Desbishop talking about Halloween in Dublin or The Hill of Tara 😂@DaveTodayFM pic.twitter.com/ZEUbSy3lBL
