He's the New Yorker who's more Irish than a Tayto crisp with red hair sipping on a pint of Guinness whilst asking about the weather, and now Des Bishop is back in town for this weekend's Vodafone Comedy Festival in the Iveagh Gardens, Dublin (all the info is here).

Des popped into Today FM's Dermot and Dave to chat about his gigs and give us a feel for the new show he's working on, which is based on his mother.

Having lost his mum earlier this year, Des is harnessing his grief and says he wants "the ability to explore the things that aren't funny".

He also tells us about his new sex and dating podcast called 'The Shift', where he recently discussed the reality show on everyone's lips.

And for a man who reckons he doesn't watch it, he seems to know his sh*t. We believe ya Bishop...wink wink.
