Winter. Is. Coming.
Well it's actually here, and with it comes a change in weather, which can be detrimental to the health of our skin.
But fear not brave souls, for The Skin Nerd has some top tips on how we can prepare ourselves for the plummeting temperatures.
Speaking on Dermot and Dave Jennifer Rock kicks things off with one of the most common complaints during this time of the year - 'Radiator Face'. And no...we never heard of that term before either.
Rock says, "Radiator face is a real thing. So obviously, coming into the winter now, we're just putting on all the heat everywhere and it's dry air effectively being blasted our face in close proximity". Sound familiar?
Now you might be thinking, 'what's so bad about that?', so we'll tell you 'what' in one word - dehydration.
Jennifer explains how dehydration, "really can disrupt your skin's healing ability, it's immunity and give you more spots", which came as a surprise to us.
So forget about lathering on that expensive cream - it's just as important to protect yourself from the inside out. And this is done by drinking plenty of water and eating healthy fats like avocado, nuts, seeds, fish oils etc.
Here are two of her methods for identifying dehydration:
- scrunch your face up really tight and then release it. If it feels like it's kind of sore and stretching...
- get your fore finger and rub it along your hand, and if your finger kind of drags ever so slightly...
As for rubbing your face with wipes? That's a huge no-no for The Skin Nerd and her team, who can actually detect people who use them a mile away. According to them, wipes leave a, "lethargic, dull hue" #binthewipes
There's also advice for pre-teen skin protection, and we learn why jade rollers are the way forward.
This genius device will save your hungover skin every time and it will only set you back €15!!
