The bluefin tuna measured over 8ft in length and weighed close to 600lbs
On Sunday last, fisherman David Edwards and his crew brought a new meaning to the phrase 'Catch of the Day', when they reeled in a 270+ kg Atlantic bluefin tuna off the west coast of Cork.
Dave is a member of the West Cork Charters and is part of the tag and release conservation programme aimed at monitoring the species population in the north East Atlantic.
Dermot and Dave caught up with Edwards to hear all about the experience and brush off the €3million the tuna was reported to be worth.
If it really was gonna be worth 3 million there would have been some arguments on the boat I think
He also emphasises the effort they go to not to hurt their catch and shocked us with how expensive the industry is.
