So this all started with an email into Dermot and Dave. Have a read:
"Hey Dermot and Dave
I'm reaching out to you guys for a definitive answer as I seem to be getting mixed responses from my friends.
I'm thirty one and I've been going out with my boyfriend for over two years now. We live together in Cork but he is from Waterford and I am from Limerick.
Over the Christmas, I went to visit him at his parent's house, where I was told I had to sleep in the spare room. Obviously I did, as I respect the family rules, my issue is that we're in our thirties and are living together. Surely that means we can stay in the same bed?
I've said it to my friends, they said I'm in the wrong if I say it to my boyfriend.
What do you guys think?
Lots of love,
C"
It does seem a bit excessive in this day and age, but then there has to be respect for her fella's parents too. So what should she do?
Dermot and Dave gave her their opinions, where they feel she should at least mention it to her boyfriend, but there was also a huge reaction from our listeners.
Caller Olivia experienced the same kind of situation back in the early days of her relationship. She just sucked it up and went with it, whereas caller Colin gives us a different perspective that could end up pushing 'C' and her beau away from the parents altogether.
It's a tough one, but I know what I'd be doing...
