This tweet by a guy called Abdul went viral over the past two days:

hello fellow adults. my gf and i have a question... what is the correct amount of towels to own? i said 10 and she looked at me like i was crazy. we have zero frame of reference on the appropriate amount of towels in a household of two.

Now, to be honest, it's not a question I have ever asked myself, but there was a massive reaction to it online.

Being the inquisitive folk we are here on Dermot and Dave, Doireann and Dec (who are covering for the lads) put it to the public to get some statistics and opinions.

They also wanted to know how regularly (or irregularly) they were washed.
