Henk Van Der Klok is a serial-adventurer with a passion for long-distance, non-motorised expeditions. He's also a serial quitter - but in a good way.
Throughout life, most of us have been encouraged to never give up; that we should forge on with whatever plan we make and see it out to the end. Correct? Well Henk has created his own ethos when it comes to what one 'should' and 'should not' do.
He quit teacher-training, University and the Dutch Marine Corps. Most recently he has quit a very good role with Apple in Cork, and it's all in the name of living a life less ordinary.
In 2011, he reinvented himself to show that he could indeed stick to a task. He has since travelled the world and undertaken some mind-blowing excursions.
Over the next 6 months he aims to walk from his home town in the Netherlands to Jerusalem...without a penny in his pocket. No cash, no cards, and no 'Plan B'.
He wants to prove that if you 'have' to survive, you will. He also wants to again put his faith in humanity and show that the world is full of good afterall - no matter what we're told besides.
Henk chatted all about his latest quest on this morning's Dermot and Dave.
