Pádraig Harrington is one of the most well-known names in Irish sport and with the 2020 European Ryder Cup captaincy up for grabs he looks set to take command.
According to reports, the 3 time Major winner's only competition lies in the form of English pro-golfer, but speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, the Dubliner revealed some inside info about Lee not wanting to take the role, "let's put it like this, myself and Lee Westwood have discussed these things".
Whistling Straits aside, the pro golfer is happy with his current game and really enjoyed his 5th place in the KLM Open recently. He's working on new ways to help his swing and is focusing on the mind aspect, saying "I'm concentrating on my mental side of it". He also tells us how meditation has played a key role.
Being the golf enthusiast Dermot Whelan is, he asked Pádraig for some tips, and his two main ones were, "never hit a shot unless you're trying" and "the worst thing you can do in golf is to try not to move". It is called a 'golf swing' after all.
He also chatted about the ‘What on Earth’ project, which is a unique public arts initiative whereby some of Ireland’s top artists from all corners of the country have been busy painting or decorating 100 resin globe sculptures.
A selection of artists have teamed up with some of Ireland’s familiar faces from the worlds of sport, fashion, broadcasting, and design, all of whom have been encouraged to bring their own perspective to this creative project. These hugely collectible globes will then be auctioned off in a bid to raise valuable funds and awareness for GOAL’s vital work as they continue to provide support and humanitarian aid around the world.

And there was even time for Harrington to let us in on a little secret about how he never sings. It's all to do with an anecdote from his days in the school choir. He's gas!
