Listen to this episode

One of the Raunchiest Irish TV shows to ever be made will hit our screens this week.

Normal People  is a TV adaptation of the hugely popular book by Irish novellist Sally Rooney. It’s a 12 parter and the first two episodes are on RTE Tuesday night.

It’s already streaming on the BBC iPlayer is on BBC One over tonight and is getting RAVE reviews. Set in Ireland, it tells the love story between Connell, the well-liked good looking student and Marianne the unpopular loner. One caveat though, it’s meant to be FILTHY with lots of adult scenes, so defo one for when the kids have gone to bed.

OTHER PICKS:

The Act: RTE2, Wednesdays. First 5 episodes are on the RTE Player. It’s a true crime series that tells the real life story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and the murder of her mother Dee Dee Blanchard who accused of abusing her daughter by fabricating illness and disabilities as a direct consequence of Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Patricia Arquette (Medium/Boyhood) plays Dee Dee and won an Emmy for it.

RUN - Sky Comedy Wednesday 9pm and NowTV: Stars our own Domhnall Gleeson and Meritt Weaver who people will know from the Netflix series Unbelievable which was huge last year. It’s also co-created by Phoebe Waller Bridge (Fleabag/Killing Eve) and written by her writing partner Vicky Jones. Really interesting premise-they’re exes from college who set a pact that if one or the other of them ever send a text saying ‘Run’. They’d drop everything and do that. Ruby, Merritt Weaver, gets that text from Billy, Domhnall Gleeson, and walks out on her life to meet him on a cross-US train. It’s two episodes in so far and it’s really good, bit filthy, very funny and mysterious.

These were some of the picks from Maria's Telly today, his play to listen in full.
