"It's like you've taken the best drugs known to man"

It has been seven and a half years since Galways girl Síle Seoige was given the all clear, and in that time, the Gaeilgeoir has found a renewed sense of gratitude.

Speaking on Dermot and Dave during Today FM's National Day of Dancing, Síle says;

It's only something when you've come through a really crap situation in your life, when you look back at it, you realise you've learned so much

In hindsight, she admits her experience to be a very positive one, letting her take a step back;

it actually allowed me to cut through the layers of nonsense in my life and realise what's real

Seoige realised she had to take more care of her body and mind and has found solace in teaching yoga, but nothing will ever compare to that feeling she had on being told the cancer was gone;

I remember hearing the words "you're clear". It's like you've taken the best drugs known to man

Síle's just one of the thousands of cancer survivors here in Ireland, and with the continued work done by the Irish Cancer Society and campaign's like Dare To Care, that survival rate will keep on rising.

Pick up your phone and text the word DARE to 50300 to donate €4 to the Irish Cancer Society.

Text costs €4. Irish Cancer Society will receive a minimum of €3.60. Service Provider: LIKECHARITY. Helpline: 076 6805278

Or head to Cancer.ie/Dance to donate online.
