The power of radio is an amazing thing. You just never know what's going to happen.
Ever since the introduction of voice activated gadgets (Alexa, Siri, Google Assist), we here at Today FM have gotten hundreds of messages and calls from all across the world, asking us not to say certain words as it drives their device crazy.
To make a short story long, on this morning's Dermot and Dave, the lads had been chatting about the new Star Wars festival in Ireland when a listener messaged in with some info relating to Scotland. Dermot decided to do his best Scottish accent, and this is where Siri comes in.
Another listener called Colin got in touch to tell Dermot to give it a break as his impersonation of SuBo kept triggering his phone.
We were then introduced to Scottish Dave, as well as Scottish Dermot, and an actual Scot (listener Tracey), who wasn't keen on Dermot's effort. Confused yet?.
Tracey went on to explain how difficult it is to be understood when you speak with the lilt of the highlands, and had a good laugh with the boys in doing so.
