Good Friday has often been a day of adventure and mystery, that is for those who like their tipple, and long to break the rules.
There has always been something very rebellious about drinking alcohol on this day, a kind of a "you can't tell me what to do" attitude, where people search far and wide for secret watering holes, or else simply crack open a few cold ones at home.
Then there's the religious portion of the country, who honour the Holy day and think to themselves "sure it's only one day".
But tomorrow, for the first time since 1927, the doors of pubs across the country will open, taking a step into the unknown for our most recent generations.
Susan Boyle (not the Scottish singer known as SuBo) is a beverage researcher and drinks consultant, who joined us on Dermot and Dave this morning to chat about the evolution of the Irish pub scene.
