Imagine an adventure race where you have to run four marathons and climb the equivalent to going up and down Mount Everest twice?? *squints eyes and scratches head*
I did a 10k last week and felt like there should have been a welcoming party and a National Day named after me.
Well Eoin Keith recently took part in the Barkley Marathons over in Frozen Head State Park, Tennesee, and it was an absolute monster!
It's his first go at this course, but he's an extreme race veteran besides. He even has a World Record for something similar in the UK.
On this morning's show Dermot and Dave learned all about that record as they welcomed Eoin into studio to chat about the anomaly that is Barkley. The fact that he even made the cut for the race is a feat in itself.
Here's a taste...
He told us how punishing it is and how tight the margins are for you to make the lap time cut-offs.
His story epitomises the phrase 'age is only a number', and puts into perspective just how tough the event is. In thirty years only a small number of people have finished it, but the million dollar question is - did he?
You can listen to his story in full by pressing play in the image above the headline at the top of the page.
