A couple of weeks ago, Dermot and Dave spoke to Cork student Mary O'Donnell. Mary was hoping to be one of the few people chosen to go to the US on a special space training course.
Low and behold, we gave Mary a buzz today as we heard congrats were in order. She has been selected to go to Houston, Texas to take part in the United Space School Scholarship, where she will follow in the footsteps (two giant steps) of Dr. Norah Patten.
Norah hails from Ballina, Co. Mayo and is very close to becoming the first Irish person to ever enter space.
The doc chatted to us about her training, and where her interest in the cosmos stemmed from. She also had some solid advice for Mary as they spoke on air.
We are in awe at the two gals who are paving their way to the stars and putting Ireland on the map.
Absolutely (inter)stellar work ladies. We wish ye the best of luck on your travels.
