Comedian, storyteller, philosopher, sociologist - call him what you will - Tommy Tiernan has been bringing joy, laughter and madness into our lives for many years.
Personally, I've always been a huge fan of his work, and the Navan native has transcended into a new level of brilliance via his TV programme, The Tommy Tiernan Show.
Something special has happened with his improvised chat show, a spark that well and truly ignited in the last series and has continued into 2020:

Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, Tommy describes the concept as "such a simple idea" but admits that "deciding to be unprepared is either brave or foolhardy".
He continues to explain why he loves how organic it feels saying; "you're just allowing it [the conversation] to happen, all you kinda do is try and survive the moment". And thrive he does.
Tiernan also talks about his 'A Work in Progress" tour (get tickets here) and why he hates writing material for stand up; "I've never developed a sure fire technique to be able to develop stand up, so it always seems like a bit of pressure".
