The LUAS website was hacked overnight by an unnamed vigilante who has (supposedly) previously warned them of having a weak security system.
When you clicked onto the site, this is the message that popped up on a white screen:
The ransom was set at 1 Bitcoin, which is worth approximately €3,400. Steep enough ehh?
They have since released this statement:
The Luas website was compromised this morning , and a malicious message was put on the home page. The website has been taken down by the IT company who manage it, and their technicians are working on it. Luas are informed this may take the day to resolve.
