About 2 weeks ago, Mairead received a hand written letter from a 9 year old boy in Ballina with a beautiful message about his mum. She ended up losing the letter but she hadn't stopped thinking about the letter and the boy who wrote it.

To try and track him down, Mairead mentioned it on the show and luckily the message was received and Calvin and his mum Shirley joined her for a chat. Shirley had no idea that Calvin had written in to a radio station about her, so Mairead got to tell her all the lovely things he wrote about her.

They have had a tough time over the last couple of years - her husband, their dad, passed away in 2018 and Shirley also lost her dad suddenly last year. Calvin said that even though she is sad, she makes him and his brother and sister laugh every single day. What he really wanted was for her to have a hotel break because she deserves it.

They listened to the show together during lockdown so Calvin decided to google the address and send a letter to Mairead who was so happy to be able to help. Shirley and the kids will be going to the Radisson Blu Hotel in Sligo thanks to the iNua Collection, and show sponsors Aldi have also sorted her out with a €300 voucher to spend in their shops as well!
