The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix has been getting rave reviews and searches for chess sets increased 273% in the 10 days after the show first aired. Mairead spoke to a real-life chess champion Ioana Miller to find out how it compares to her own experiences.

Ioana has watched and really enjoyed The Queen's Gambit and said while she was a bit skeptical at first, it's a really accurate depiction of what it's like to play chess competitively.

Ioana started playing chess at the age of 8 and is now a coach and the Irish Women's Chess Champion for the third year in a row. She's thrilled to see the big increase in interest in the game, it's perfect to play in lockdown - you just need time.
