Following three painful years of unsuccessfully trying for a baby, one woman and her partner have made the decision to commit to a child free life.

Having made the tough decision they say they feel lighter and clearer.

Under the condition of anonymity the woman sent in the below email to Mairead Ronan hoping to help other people who may find themselves in a similar situation.

"Hi Mairead. I wanted to share my story with your listeners in the hope that it might inspire or help others.

"After 3 years of unsuccessfully trying for a baby, my partner and I have come to the decision that we’ll commit to a child free life. We feel so much lighter, clearer and hopeful now that we have made this decision.

It’s been a painful journey but we’re now looking forward to a future of adventures and a life that is full.

We have had some friends and family tell us that we shouldn’t give up trying to grow our family but we believe we’ve made the right decision for ourselves, our life and our mental health."
