It's no secret that we all fell more in love with bread this year, especially during the first lockdown. It's now confirmed that 97% of Irish people love a slice of bread, so Mairead asked psychologist Niamh Hannon why are sandwiches such a big thing for us?

You'll remember from various storms over the years and the Beast from the East in particular, bread was the number one item flying off the shelves. So many of us will always have the ingredients to make a sandwich in the fridge, and Niamh said that particularly in times of instability, a sandwich is stability, and it's safe.

A survey has shown that the humble ham and cheese toastie is still our favourite sandwich, followed closely by a chicken or turkey sandwich with stuffing. And as Mairead says, unlike people, a sandwich will never let you down.
