Best known for playing Asbjorn in Vikings he's now lowered his axe and exchanged it for a Mad Max style ride in brand new show Curfew on Sky One.

He popped in to tell the Muireann O'Connell Show about how he prepared for the role he got in Vikings by taking ice showers so in the scenes when it rained (there was a lot of wetness!) he didn't freeze to death!

Elijah as Asbjorn in Vikings

The rising Irish star had a different preparation for his newest role in Curfew but it did involve ice in the veins.

The new show is described as a cross between The Walking Dead, Fast and The Furious and Mad Max! Elijah had to learn to drive for his new role so who better than the original Stig from Top Gear to show him the ropes and it was a terrifying experience but prepared him for the real driving test.

Curfew stars his childhood hero Sean Bean who he said is a legend and the set was amazing.

Curfew is on Sky One every Friday at 9pm
