The pursuit of happiness isn't an easy thing. Joy is a feeling majority of us search for on a daily basis, and depending on life's circumstances, it can be be difficult to locate.

This serves as the objective of Amy's latest creation, Finding Joy

It’s a six-part comedy series written by and starring Amy Huberman. She plays Joy, who’s thrown from her regular job as a copywriter into a new project where she reluctantly covers Ireland’s most loved vlogger. As well as coming to terms with this new glitzy job, Joy is also struggling to mend herself after a recent break-up and finds herself a little lonely with just her heavily-pregnant friend, Trish and her dog, Aidan to keep her company.

That's the plot in a nutshell, but Huberman delves a bit deeper into who Joy really is on The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show

Amy was fresh from yesterday evening's special screening in Dublin's Point Village, where the first two episodes went down a treat, "it was a really positive and fun night".

When asked about where the idea stemmed from, the actress says, "we wanted to write a series about happiness - what it means to different people".

Explaining the title character, Amy added, "she's putting on a brave face and she's being quite stoic about it all", "there's a vulnerability" and "she's quite cynical of this whole world", which will strike a chord with lots of viewers out there.

She gives us some insight into what the writing process is like and how it's not all plain sailing, laughing in saying, "there's days where you're going 'I'm in over my head'".

Iano also asked her about abseiling down the Aviva, how much of her is in Joy and why her hubby Brian's cameo role is similar to that of Alfred Hitchcock.

We've already been lucky enough to watch the first episode (the perks of the job) - her  writing is sharp, witty and smart and she has created engaging, relatable characters who will go down very well with the audience.

The first episode airs on RTÉ One at 9:35pm this evening, so check it out.
