The pinnacle of the National Hunt season got underway yesterday, as a mass exodus of Irish punters hit for some equine euphoria.

The Gift Grub microphones also made the trip and picked up some hilarious moments from the day one.

Racing broadcaster Robert Hall welcomed Iano, as there was a bit of horse-play between himself and Ted Walsh.

Michael O'Leary isn't too happy with the betting system, whereas Michael Flatley is looking forward to his stallions ride.

Seachtain na Gaeilge gets a mention, resulting in Boris Johnson getting stitched-up by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs.

The big race of the day was the Anglo-Irish Champion Hurdle, which turned out to be a battle of lingo.

You can listen to the fun in full by pressing play in the image above the headline.
