Last week, iconic commentator Ryle Nugent announced his decision to leave RTÉ after 24 years of service (collective sad faces).

There has been lots of whispering as to why he wants to make the move, but up until this morning, nobody could pinpoint the exact reasons.

The man with one of the most recognisable voices in Ireland came into studio to tell us about his decision to go, and gave us a sample of future career prospects. 

To help fill the void, we lined up a few potential replacements to hear how they'd do on the big stage.
