At the end of each year, we ask our fun-size president to call into studio and pay homage to the past twelve months or so, and today was that day.
He's a bit of a dark horse is Michael D, and to delight us even more this time round, he's only gone and learned how to play the guitar. He didn't just learn a few chords from YouTube though, no, not our head honcho; Mr. Higgins enlisted the help of multi-instrumentalist and folk music production legend Dónal Lunny.
Dónal is obviously an incredible teacher as our leader strums that acoustic guitar like it's nobody's business!
The song is a rework of 70's hit 'At Seventeen' by Janis Ian (the name is a coincidence - she's no relation to Mr.Dempsey), and covers all the most talked about events in Ireland this year.
His lyrics take a whimsical look at things like the Gardaí breath test scandal, Ireland losing out on the RWC 2023 bid, no trip to Russia for the FAI, Leo getting in, Gerry bowing out, Ryanair's cock-up and Marty Morrissey Knock, Knock, Knockin on Mayo's door...to name a few.
We wouldn't be surprised to see him release an E.P in the new year...
