We were delighted to welcome comedienne, actor, writer, and all-round craic machine Alison Spittle into studio this morning.
Believe it or not, it was her first time chatting with Iano, and he had been looking forward to it all week.
Alison called in to give us the low-down on her latest creations, TV series, Nowhere Fast and her upcoming stand-up comedy show called Worrier Princess.
If you haven't yet watched an episode of Nowhere Fast, we advise you to make it happen because you're missing out. It's a refreshing look at modern society, as her character Angela portrays a lady who is falling from grace, being away from home and surrounded by new 'friends'. They are all faced with many 'unrealistic' situations, which after a bit of analysis, prove to be common occurrences (we've all been there).
The creator told us all about where the concept came from, and how a big chunk of the content is from her own life and experiences. Some of the anecdotes are priceless, especially the story behind the "getting sick in the hoover" clip we played on air. Hilarious!!
Regardless of the fact that it's her first attempt at a TV series, the work is amazing. Bitter sweet moments, hurtful truths and effortless acting. She explained how she found the script writing a little tricky at first, but after a few runs at it she was flying it. It does help having her boyfriend working on it though.
She also gave us a taste of what people can expect from her new stand-up tour Worrier Princess which is happening in the new year, and it sounds like a lot of fun.
We smell a second series of the show, more tours and a bright future ahead for the breath of fresh air that is Alison Spittle. She's defo going somewhere, in fact everywhere, fast!!
