Home and Away has long been a TV favourite here in Ireland, and sure what's not to love? The golden beaches, those tanned, toned torsos, captivating storylines and Alf having a flamin' galah-fest most days...perfect viewing material as the rain pelts our windows.
Well now there's even more of a reason to love the show as Cork man Kieren Noonan has landed a role in it.
The electrician (by trade) moved over to Australia six years ago in search of some fun, sun and a new lifestyle where he thought he could expand his sparky skills, and things were going to plan, until a fateful proposition opened up a whole new world.
Kieren was in a café in Sydney having the brekkie one morning when a lady approached him. Speaking on The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show, he told us how she gave him her business card, "she asked me to give her a call sometime and if I did some acting or any sort of modelling". The funny thing is - he hadn't done either.
Being a true Irish man, he left it on the long finger, until one day when he said enough was enough, "a year later I gave her a ring to kinda get off the construction site".
It turned out to be one of the best phone calls he would ever make as his new agent got him some work on Home and Away.
Noonan plays badass 'Spike' who is one of the River Boys, who you'll know via the infamous 'Brax brothers'.
Having 5 episodes already in the can, the Corkonian is heading stateside to audition for some bigger productions, but hopes to make a return to Summer Bay.
