Take a bow Jordan Bailey and Mike Tweedie (and all the others)
The dream of any chef or restaurant is to be recognised by the world’s premier culinary authority and now seven new Michelin stars have been awarded to Irish restaurants.
Five new establishments made The 2020 Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland list, following a ceremony in London.
The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show caught up with two of the winners from the night.
Aimsir, based at the Cliff at Lyons in Kildare, was awarded two stars on its debut - an Irish first.

Head chef Jordan Bailey from Cornwall & wife Majken Bech-Bailey (Front of House Manager) opened their 6-tabled, 24-seat restaurant back in May with Jordan saying, "I never, ever thought it would be possible. To get 2 stars straight off is unbelievable".
Before opening 4.5 months ago, the couple spent a year travelling around Ireland to source the best produce. Now that's dedication!
The Oak Room at Adare Manor received its, and Limerick's, first Michelin star - thanks to Head Chef Mike Tweedie and his team.

Mike is from Devon and was runner-up in the San Pellegrino Young Chef Award 2017.
As the property’s only fine-dining restaurant, The Oak Room provides a genuine taste of the best that contemporary Irish cuisine has to offer while inviting guests to explore the vast bounty of Ireland.
The inspectors noted his refined and assured cooking, and Tweedie’s experience and confidence in ‘knowing just when to hold back'.
Speaking to Ian, Mike says, "This is a massive achievement. Most chefs work their whole life for this".
