Neven Maguire firmly believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn the pleasure of sourcing, preparing, and cooking good food every day. And it's never too late to start.
The Cavan chef's new book contains his 50 most important recipes for life, and each dish is broken down into easy-to-follow step-by-step bites.

Having sold over 100,000 books and being at the helm of one of Ireland's busiest and most highly rated restaurants (MacNean House), the man from Blacklion knows his stuff.
Chatting on The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show, Neven told us how he wanted to strip things back to basics with his new book, "it's from as simple as poaching an egg, to making a tomato sauce - cooking from scratch".
When asked about the importance of being able to cook, the chef says "I think it's the greatest life skill" and strongly believes that when it comes to home economics in school "the first three years up to third year should be mandatory for kids".
Himself and Iano also compared recipes, gushed over "the humble egg" and admired the book's incredible photography (Joanne Murphy gets all the credit there).
Could Neven possibly create something to feature on the Irish secondary school curriculum?? We think it's a great shout.
