The Central Statistics Office has conducted a survey on the professions of married couples, and the results have been branded the 'Coppers Effect'.
The survey shows that people are more likely to marry others in the same job, with Gardaí, farmers and publicans among the professions listed.
The cliché that male Gardaí often go on to marry nurses has also proved to be true.
The term 'Coppers Effect' comes from the idea that public servants who end up together will have met in Copper Face Jack's.
Larissa Nolan and Karl Deeter discussed this and some of the other stories making the news this week, including the controversy surrounding England footballer Raheem Sterling's tattoo.
