Aer Lingus will allow its female cabin crew staff to opt out of wearing makeup or skirts as part of new uniform rules, according to a story in The Times Ireland Edition.

The news follows a similar announcement made by Virgin Atlantic, who have also introduced a trouser option for their female staff.

They have stated that those who do still choose to wear makeup will have to adhere to certain colour palettes.

Have airlines been slow to bring in these changes, and are the rules for male staff still too strict?

Aoife Barry, Assistant News Editor with TheJournal.ie, joined us to discuss this.
