An Irish Times report has revealed the latest statistics about injuries to cyclists on our roads.
More than 350 cyclists were treated in Irish hospitals for head injuries last year following road traffic incidents, which amounts to almost one a day.
Of these, 49 were injured in collisions with cars, pick-up trucks or vans, while 216 were injured in non-collision accidents.
What needs to be done to reduce these figures and ensure the safety of our cyclists?
Shane Foran of the Galway Cycling Campaign and Robert Troy, Fianna Fáil spokesperson for Transport, Tourism and Sport, joined Matt to discuss the issue.
