Donald Trump appeared to insult a female reporter for ABC News on Monday, accusing her of never thinking before she had a chance to ask her question.
The remark was made to Cecilia Vega during a Rose Garden news conference. Trump joked that she was "shocked" to be picked to ask him a question, to which Vega replied, "I'm not, thank you Mr. President."
Trump then said, "That's okay, I know you're not thinking, you never do."
Although it seemed that Trump misheard the words "thank you" as "thinking", he has still been criticised for being insulting.
A White House transcript later quoted him as saying, "I know you're not thanking."
Cal Thomas and Marion McKeone discussed this story and more from the United States, including the latest on Brett Kavanaugh and Trump's claim that he fell in love with Kim Jong-un after "beautiful letters".
