Donald Trump has claimed that new Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was "proven innocent" of allegations of sexual assault.
Speaking at a ceremony in the White House, the US president apologised to Kavanaugh on behalf of the country for the way he had been treated in recent weeks and the "terrible pain and suffering" he had been "forced to endure."
He went on to say that what happened "violates every notion of fairness, decency, and due process."
Kavanaugh was found neither guilty nor innocent of allegations made against him by Dr Christine Blasey Ford. He was sworn in as Supreme Court Justice on Saturday, after a narrow vote.
Cal Thomas and Marion McKeone discussed this and more from the United States, including Donald Trump's reaction to Taylor Swift's political actions.
