Donald Trump has been a fierce advocate of the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine as a potential treatment for the coronavirus.

But many people think his interest in the drug can be attributed to the fact that he has a stake in Sanofi, the French firm that makes it.

Doctors in the United States have cautioned against raising false hope, as the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine has not yet been proved.
