The High Court has refused to allow French authorities to extradite Ian Bailey in connection with the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.
The body of the French filmmaker was found outside her holiday home in west Cork in 1996.
Mr Bailey, who has always denied the murder, was found guilty by a Paris court last year after a trial he didn't attend. He described the trial as a "farce".
