In this week's Monday debate, we looked at the issue of the daily commute.
Long commutes to work have become a reality for many, particularly those who can't afford to buy or rent in our major cities. The experience is made even more stressful by problems such as traffic congestion or insufficient public transport.
How bad is it, not only in Dublin but around the country? And what kind of effect is it having on our physical and mental health?
We were joined by a panel of experts to discuss potential solutions to the problem:
- Conor Faughnan, Director of Consumer Affairs with AA Ireland
- Leslie Shoemaker, Counselling Psychologist and Lecturer at Technological University Dublin
- Neil Walker, Head of Infrastructure at IBEC
- Hildegaarde Naughten, Fine Gael TD for Galway West-South Mayo
- Brendan O'Sullivan, chartered town planner and director of the Centre for Planning Education and Research at UCC
- Future of work expert Peter Cosgrove
