Charlie Weston, personal finance editor with the Irish Independent, gave his advice on curing your spending hangover and planning your finances better in 2019.
Some of Charlie's tips include:
- Have a rainy day fund
- Don't bury your head in the sand when it comes to credit card bills
- Consider setting up a direct debit
- Switch cards if you can
- Be realistic about how long it will take to clear your balance
- Track your spending
- List your debts in order, from the highest interest rate down
