Ireland's dry stone walls are a major part of our landscape and an attraction for tourists.
However, they could be under threat due to a plan by Transport Infrastructure Ireland which could see them demolished to make way for steel barriers.
Sean O'Neill of Transport Infrastructure Ireland says road safety is the reason behind this plan: "Our remit is to provide a safe and efficient network of national roads."
"When you have stone walls that are so close to a national secondary route, it becomes a serious hazard."
But Louise Price of the Dry Stone Wall Association of Ireland says it should be "a last resort to get rid of these beautiful, historic dry stone walls."
"They are part of the fabric of Irish life. They’re not disposable - they can be carefully and respectfully moved back if needed, and that's what should be done."
