How often have you had an argument with your spouse or partner about how the household chores are divided up?
A study in America has investigated what it calls the 'burden of invisible labour' on women, also known as the mental load.
It found that 90% of women are responsible for doing the family scheduling in their homes, with 70% taking charge of other routine tasks.
Is it mostly women who are the household organisers in Ireland, or are men also pulling their weight?
Lisa Holt thinks women are better at planning, "but we're also not great at asking for specific tasks to be done, and we're very good at giving out when it's not done."
"I don't know anyone in my circle where the man isn't fully involved in family life, but I think women want the job done and they plan ahead."
Karl Deeter says that, according to the CSO, men work longer hours than women outside the home, but that when it comes to dividing tasks it's about playing to people's strengths.
"It's down to people in a relationship to solve their own problem. People make choices and if they're not happy with them, they need to talk to the person they're with."
"This is not about 'us versus them'."
